Glass tiles bring colour and shine to decorative artwork. Ceramic tiles offer a different texture and finish, while mirror tiles add reflective accents. Iridescent tiles change appearance as the light catches them.

For detailed patterns and curved outlines, consider smaller pieces. For larger areas, choose sizes and shapes that suit the design without requiring excessive cutting. Check the dimensions and thickness of each product, particularly when combining different tiles.

A small decorative project, such as wall art or a mirror frame, is a manageable place to begin. Keep your first design simple and choose a limited colour palette.

How many tiles will you need?

Measure the area you want to cover before ordering. The quantity required depends on tile size, spacing, the pattern and how much cutting is involved.

Where a product lists tiles per kilogram or coverage information, use those figures for that specific product. Allow extra for cuts and breakages, and avoid assuming that different tile shapes or sizes provide the same coverage.

Indoor, outdoor and wet-area projects

Suitability varies between products. Before choosing tiles for garden pots, stepping stones, splashbacks or other exposed surfaces, check the individual product information.

A tile suitable for decorative artwork is not automatically suitable for flooring, showers, pools or prolonged outdoor exposure. The base, adhesive, grout and installation method also need to suit the intended use. If suitability isn’t clear, ask before ordering.
